Objective The Field Service/Applications Engineer assists customers with the installation,
Mechatronics call center
Mechatronics Application support
Sales
application and problem solving of variable speed drives, servo drives and
electro mechanical products. Customer assistance consists of phone support
through the ACD system as well as on-site support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installs, services or repairs mechanical and electronic equipment at the customer's site, our manufacturing sites, or sales and service offices.
- Utilizes hand tools and test equipment to perform work.
- Requires knowledge of equipment specifications.
- Discusses with engineering problems relating to maintenance or operation of equipment.
- Field train customers.
- Performs in house phone troubleshooting support to customers.
- Supports sales for product demonstrations.
- Provides a range of known solutions to problems.
- Innovates on the fly to resolve new and unique problems.
- May be asked to cover after hours phone troubleshooting.
- Will be asked to travel extensively, around the world.
- Build and maintain customer relationships.
- Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Require minimal direct supervision.
- Organizational skills.
- Microsoft Outlook and Excel knowledge.
- Expert knowledge of supplied machinery.
- Ability to accurately and effectively communicate problems and suggest possible solutions.
- Will require travel up to 100% of the time. Normally one week out, sometimes up to two weeks out.
Candidate must have experience in maintenance and repair of industrial equipment. Great mechanical aptitude is required to perform assembly, installation and commission of the equipment. The ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical/programming including relay control circuits (PC/PLC) is a plus. Spanish speaking ability is a plus.
Travel required 75-100% depending on time of year. Overtime, per diem, and excellent benefits.

Responsibilities:
- Schedule and perform maintenance on scientific equipment at customer locations in accordance with service contract and company procedures and standards. Ensure equipment meets performance specifications. Evaluate, diagnose, and repair malfunctioning equipment in response to service calls.
- Perform service on both ultra-precision subassemblies and complex instrumentation.
- Work to extreme tolerances and both recognize and take the action necessary to achieve ultra-precise operation.
- Perform highly complex service and testing processes, sometimes with miniature components.
- Install new equipment, executes product upgrades, and provides technical support.
- Promote customer satisfaction through proactive, professional communication.
- Document service work, record and analyze test data, and prepare service reports.
- Place inventory and parts orders.
- Provide comprehensive technical support by phone and email.
- Be "on-call" outside of normal working hours to provide emergency service as needed.
- Provide information and feedback to Engineering and Production teams for problem identification & resolution.
- During the time in the factory, may be required to support Production by performing Electromechanical Technician tasks.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Electronics, Electromechanics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical service capacity; prior field service responsibility for complex, precision, electronic and/or electromechanical devices is preferred.
- Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, electronic schematics to the component level, and wiring diagrams.
- Familiarity with standard vacuum practice and high-voltage technology is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and to work independently with a focus on results, quality, and customer service.
- Understanding of computer networking is beneficial.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Strong organizational habits and outstanding attention to detail are essential.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
- Must be able to pass federal background checks in order to be admitted to some customer facilities.

The Battery Field Service Technician is required to establish, promote and maintain excellent rapport with all customers, co-workers, sales representatives and others as appropriate. A company vehicle, laptop, blackberry, and tools will be provided. Benefits provided include: health insurance, prescription plans, dental, vacation, paid holidays, 401K and Profit Sharing.
