The Generator Technician requires the highest-level technical knowledge and the ability to perform tasks above and beyond the normal technician responsibilities. Based in various locations in the Southeast, the position reports directly to the Service Manager. This technician possesses a high level of knowledge, dedication and work ethic required to quickly learn the engine driven generator systems, repairs and operations; that allows them to perform major repairs, overhauls and installations of engines, generators and associated equipment.   Responsibilities: - Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of gas engines, generators, controls, switchgear, emissions controls, and auxiliary equipment. - Mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on all generating set systems, including: fuel delivery, ignition, lube oil, cooling, exhaust systems, turbo charging as well as engine internal components. - Performing minor and major engine overhauls in the field, including generator end bearings. - Electrical troubleshooting and problem solving requires strong AC/DC power skills, ability to read and interpret schematics, troubleshoot and repair electrical contactors, motors, relays, contacts, generator components, and controls. - Troubleshoot, repair and replace PLC control systems, relays, digital/analog inputs-outputs. - Learn and work independently, exhibit common sense and good judgment, and foster a safe working environment Skills/Experience: - Computer literate - Good oral, written, and inter-personal skills - Minimum of 2-3 years work experience either in power generation service, industrial mechanical-electrical troubleshooting and repairs, or marine engineering. Reciprocating engine experience is a must. - Technical school, related military technical, electrical/mechanical engineering degrees, or maritime engineering backgrounds preferred Abilities:  - Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic and mechanical drawings - Ability to diagnose and carry out major repairs, DC circuits 12/24/v - Ability to tie in to customer’s electrical panels. - Self-starter, exercises good judgment, is proactive, and demonstrates timely follow-through. - Practiced organizational skills; adherence to timelines and schedules; and attention to detail. - Professional and effective skills of written and verbal communication and concisely document all work and repairs completed in the field - Maintain necessary legal and technical certifications. - Willingness and ability to manage through collaboration; embrace accountability; share responsibility; and develop employees for personal and professional growth. - Know and follow all safety requirements - Safely operate a company vehicle & safe driving record Travel:  - Travel 75% - 90% within region, for up to 3 weeks at a time Physical Demands:   While performing the duties of this position, service technicians are regularly required to: - Use hands/fingers to handle or feel - Reach with hands and arms - Stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl - Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Carry out installations, calibrations, performance trials and acceptance tests for equipment. - Provide technical support to remote equipment. - Carry out ad hock and scheduled service on machines. - Manage and control tools, test equipment, technical documentation and other assigned equipment. - Project management and execution of installations including calibrations of each contracted product type (meat, potatoes, etc.) optimizing customer resources and involvement. - Execute automation projects associated with installations within Automation Process Procedures and in consultation with Senior Automation staff. - Contribute to sales presentations and discussions as appropriate for selling the equipment and associated automation systems. - Aid in the generation of support documentation for customers and support personnel. - Liaises with Supply Chain and Sales staff to clarify all technical matters relating to the technical details in the sales proposal and subsequent order specifications. - Manage and perform application support to the market and technical support to vendors as required. - Connect with corporate based R&D engineers on component obsolescence and specification change issues. - Maintain complete and secure engineering files on products in accordance with procedures. - Approve customization of products to customer’s requirements. - Local testing of new applications. - Other support activities as assigned. - Coordinate shipment/delivery for equipment and parts of all sales, trials, and trade show material, etc. - Schedule installation services required for all equipment installations - Document service visits, equipment configurations and services as performed and evaluated in the field - Coordinate with manufacturing and engineering to establish and/or maintain proper assignment of part numbers and appropriate inventory levels at warehouse locations. Candidate Profile - Qualified candidates MUST have protein/meat processing or packaging experience.  - Military training or equivalent experience in electronic system troubleshooting a plus. - Experience in industrial technology and customer support. - Strong problem solving skills with the ability to work on problems of diverse scope. - Basic knowledge of process control and statistics - Assist and support customers in a professional manner. - Complete all required customer, management and engineering paperwork and/or data entry in a timely manner. - A valid driver’s license with a good driving record. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to converse effectively in the English language are necessary. Education   A Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, or industrial engineering is preferred.   Other skills/abilities Travel by car and by air, with overnight travel is required. Job requires frequent bending and kneeling, lifting of up to 80 lbs.

Must have hands on experience in the maintenance and support of mechanical or electronic components, which operate in a technical or manufacturing setting. Related experience can include; production line mechanic, line electrician, packaging machinery engineer, and general field technician responsible for product installation, support and repairs. - Must have knowledge of electronic engineering experience; working with circuitry and troubleshooting electrical components to the board level, drilling / mounting in various materials. Experience with wiring, wiring harnesses and terminating. Experienced in the installation of electronic-mechanical machinery or optics equipment is ideal. - Must understand and interpret schematic diagrams, understand electrical symbols, terminology, calculate voltage and circuit flow. Be responsible and confident when installing sensitive electronic hardware, software and OEM equipment. - Be familiar with software programming. Programming / writing code is not a requirement, some knowledge of C++ coding or line level programming is a plus. - Must have some experience with IT Networking. Be familiar working with networking hardware, IP processes / connectivity, networking communications. IP addressing, identifying domains, routers, cables, switches, etc. Desired Skills and Experience:   Candidates should have 5 – 7 years of work experience in the installing, repairing, troubleshooting electronics, automated packaging or manufacturing machinery. Related industrial engineering and electronics experience will be considered.   Veterans with formal military training and electronic repair experience are encouraged to apply.   Any combination of related studies and work experience will be considered. Education:    Applicants must provide a diploma or certificate(s) from a recognized school, university or technical program; related to an applied science, electronics, and mechanical, electro-mechanical engineering or similar related field. Bachelors, Diploma/Certificate in degree in Electronic Engineering, Electronics or related field is a plus.    Military training and certifications fully considered. Military experience, training or certifications are welcome, and considered equal.    Language Requirements:    All Field Technicians must be able to clearly speak and write in English. Secondary language skills are highly desired. Field Technicians with the ability to deliver customer training in Spanish or Portuguese is a major plus. Clear communication and professional presentation skills are essential.    Travel Requirements:   This position requires frequent and extended travel. All candidates must be prepared, ready and available to travel 3 weeks per month. Weekend over-stays may be required when installations exceed 5 business days. All Field Technicians must be able to travel freely between the US and Canada by commercial airline. Required Training Period: 4-6 weeks of paid hands-on training in Quebec City, QC. Canada. New hires are then required to complete 6-8 weeks of shadowing assignments for on-the job training.   All new hires are required to pass progressive technical tests and skill based functional tests throughout the entire training period. All applicants must pass a Technical Skills Test, prior to advancing to the Skype based technical interview. Candidates must be in good health, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.    Salary and Benefits:   Competitive salary, based upon a combination of experience, education and skills. We are an engineering house, a toolmaker, a blow molder, an injection molder, and a custom machine builder all under one company. The Field Service will provide on-site machine installation, troubleshooting, repair and training for our domestic and international customers.
