Location: Schaumburg, IL

Compensation: $75,000 – $90,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

Role Overview

Our client, a premier consulting engineering firm in Schaumburg, is seeking a process minded Chemical Engineer (BSChE) with 3 years of experience to support and manage regional infrastructure projects. This role blends technical engineering and analysis performed in the office with necessary field work, client interaction, and project coordination.

  • We are seeking high-potential engineers with the drive to transition into a Subject Matter Expert (SME) or a Project Manager.
  • Your core mission is engineering to deliver process improvement, optimization, and expansion of mechanical systems within batch or continuous process infrastructure.
  • This is not a manufacturing maintenance or plant upkeep role.
  • This is not a position where you will spend your time fixing broken equipment or keeping daily plant operations afloat.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process & System Optimization: Analyze regional infrastructure and batch process systems to identify bottlenecks, improve efficiency, and implement mechanical upgrades.
  • Office Analysis & Design: Perform mechanical engineering calculations, fluid dynamics assessments, and thermal evaluations in the office to support project designs.
  • Field Work & Inspections: Travel across the Chicagoland region to conduct field investigations, verify site conditions, and monitor project progress, alignment and design.
  • Client Interaction: Act as a key technical contact for clients, presenting engineering solutions, delivering updates, and ensuring project goals are met.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an accredited university.
  • Experience: 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably within infrastructure projects, process design, or batch processing systems.
  • Mindset: A strong aptitude combined with a desire to improve processes rather than perform routine plant maintenance.
  • Skills: Proficiency in technical analysis (CAD, fluid dynamics, or thermal systems), strong communication skills for client relations, and a valid driver's license for regional field travel.

Career Path

  • Technical Track: Deepen your technical expertise to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and continue/expand client facing engagements for added project and commercial responsibility.
