Controls Technician – Building Automation Systems

Location: Boise, ID

Pay: $28–$37/hr + Full Benefits (DOE)

 

Immediate opening for an experienced Controls Technician to support commercial building automation systems across the Boise region. This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys troubleshooting, solving complex problems, working directly with customers, and improving facility performance through smart building technologies.

What You’ll Do

As a Controls Technician, you will perform advanced service, troubleshooting, commissioning, and upgrades on commercial building automation systems (BAS). 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair complex electronic, digital, and networked control systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance, system commissioning, and software/graphics updates
  • Provide on‑site customer support, ensuring high satisfaction and clear communication
  • Assist with job layouts, field sketches, documentation, and as‑built updates
  • Support sales teams with technical insights and field‑based recommendations
  • Train customers on system operation and provide ongoing technical guidance
  • Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Participate in continuous learning to stay current with BAS technologies

 

Qualifications

  • Troubleshooting experience (electro-mechanical systems, HVAC experience highly desirable but will consider applicants with other related technical experience)
  • Technical degree, vocational program completion, military, or equivalent practical experience
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, and technical documentation
  • Effective communication skills with both technical and non‑technical customers
  • Strong customer‑service mindset and professional field presence
  • Military training and practical experience highly desired but not required
