Electrical Engineer in Western North Carolina

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly capable, degreed Electrical Engineer with controls experience to join our team in a demanding and fast-paced copper foundry environment. This role is responsible for driving reliability, continuous improvement, and system optimization across the facility. The ideal candidate is a results-driven professional with a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, project execution, and plant support.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited engineering institution is required.
- Associate or technology degrees will not be considered in lieu of a BSEE.
- 3+ years of experience in an industrial, foundry, or heavy manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with industrial controls, electrical troubleshooting, automation systems, and reliability tools.
- Familiarity with PLC/HMI systems, motor control centers, low- and medium-voltage equipment, and predictive maintenance practices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring all electrical systems and projects meet safety and compliance standards.
- Work independently or collaboratively to develop and implement cost-effective electrical engineering solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical and control systems to minimize downtime and ensure plant performance.
- Provide engineering support to operations and maintenance teams, including root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and documentation.
- Lead and participate in reliability and process improvement projects aligned with plant goals and KPIs.
- Create, maintain, and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control diagrams.
- Manage electrical components of capital and maintenance projects from concept through commissioning.
- Assist with developing and executing training for operations and maintenance staff on electrical systems and safety practices.
- Support the development and maintenance of spare parts strategies for critical systems.
- Participate in and contribute to the plant’s continuous improvement efforts, including Lean initiatives and Six Sigma practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across all levels to ensure reliable and sustainable outcomes.
- Track, analyze, and present downtime and cost data to drive asset performance improvements and cost savings.

Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, NFPA 70E, and safe electrical work practices.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or other common industrial automation platforms.
- Ability to lead projects with minimal supervision, from planning through implementation.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo, Fiix) and spare parts management.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (preferably NetSuite).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when collaborating with frontline teams and leadership.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills; capable of managing multiple priorities in a production-critical environment.
Work Environment
This position requires presence on the plant floor and occasional work in confined spaces or elevated platforms. Must be comfortable working in a high-heat, industrial environment, wearing appropriate PPE, and engaging with shop floor personnel regularly.
