The objective of the Industrial Engineer is to plan the utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations.
Experience and or Education focused on lean manufacturing processes Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Math/Engineering. 1-3 years Industrial Engineering experience
Responsibilities involve facilities planning, manufacturing operations research/systems, cycle time line balancing, and ergonomic improvements. Study functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine functions and responsibilities of workers and work units and to identify areas of duplication.
Identify and support value stream map improvements and waste elimination projects for manufacturing and overhead areas that drive plant and company performance improvements while assisting in the advancement of the lean culture within the organization.
Analyze work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work-flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
Examine and recommend improvements in the manufacturing processes relating to design review, value engineering, production specifications, line balancing, and standards.
Maintain quality assurance programs, process control, system reliability and data analysis, hypothesis testing, using applied statistics.
Conduct cycle time studies and motion studies to establish process standards and support process / efficiency improvements.
Initiate, lead and champion lean projects, i.e., Lean Production, Lean Support, with the Production, Process Development, Manufacturing Engineering and support function.
Facilitate planning for capital budgeting, economic feasibility analysis, and related financial data.
Perform general engineering tasks, which may include: creating and updating standards, maintaining BOMS and routers and creating and approving engineering change orders. E1: Item Master, BOM, routing, regulated states, product costing.
