Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY:  Expert trouble shooter and equipment repair person for all types of plant/production electrical and mechanical equipment.  Work from general assignment and proceed with minimum supervision and direction.  This level of work requires education and experience with all types of electrical and mechanical service skills.  Teaches and/or advises subordinates about how or what to do to make repairs.  Work from complicated drawings and specifications.  Use a variety of precision measuring instruments for exacting measurements.  Apprenticeship, Associate Degree, or equivalent training plus considerable experience is required to perform work.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·         Manage maintenance personnel (over multiple shifts), and delegate work..

·         Work with Plant Manager to develop a maintenance budget.

·         Oversee PM program

·         Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems and makes necessary repairs.

·         Repairs or upgrades equipment/facilities for improved operations.

·         Assists others to insure equipment is properly maintained

·         Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.

·         Visually inspects and tests machinery (using measuring equipment and electrical test equipment).

·         Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.

·         Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.

·         Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.

·         Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic Maintain an accurate and detailed record of maintenance, and repair services performed. 

·         Minimize lost production and facility equipment downtime by performing duties in a timely and efficient manner.

·         Insure work is performed in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines

·         equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

·         Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.

 

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·         Maintain an accurate and detailed record of maintenance, and repair services performed. 

·         Minimize lost production and facility equipment downtime by performing duties in a timely and efficient manner.

·         Insure work is performed in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines

•    Ability to use intermediate mathematics, understand and follow complicated written specifications,   charts, tables, and verbal instructions.

•    Use of considerable judgment, initiative and ingenuity to plan, perform and make decisions regarding difficult work when only general methods are available.

·         Welding equipment troubleshooting.

·         Plasma/oxy-fuel cutting table knowledge/experience.

·         Knowledge of sand or shot blast systems

·         Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.

·         Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.

·         Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATIONAL & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

Pre Hire

·         Pre-employment physical

·         Pre-employment Drug screen

·         High School Diploma or GED

·         5 years’ experience or more in CNC troubleshooting machine controls,

·         Supervisory skills including documented experience with Supervision of five or more employees of at least 5 years,

·         Knowledge of using preventative maintenance software.

·         Associate Degree from College or technical school in CNC and/or Automated Machine Controls, Journeymen’s card a plus,

·         Ability to train subordinates in machine technology,

·         Ability to delegate and track multiple concurrent projects.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

·         The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

·         Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Distance vision.

·         While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, bend and twist use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
