This customer-facing role requires a strong Mechanical Design Engineer to pioneer innovations and advanced designs for our Bakery processing equipment. The Mechanical Design Engineer will broaden product versatility and improve systems performance in order to guarantee that the organization continues to provide innovative solutions and product leadership in the Bakery industry.

This MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER reports directly to VP, Strategic Business Development, and will interact and exchange ideas directly with national accounts either at USA production facilities or at Customer Center. Customers select portioning systems for accurate dough processing in the make-up stage of production and the easy integration and operational performance of our systems into their production line.  At the Customer Center, customers test and develop new products and processes, utilizing a customizable processing room for pilot operations, a full test kitchen for food prep and sampling, and conference rooms for strategy sessions.  


Design Engineer is responsible to:

  • Ensure that customized solutions continue to lead the industry in proper machining of dough to guarantee accurate finished baked product characteristics and quality;

  • Research Bakery industry and stay on top of trends and new developments; collaborate with Sales, Service, Engineering and Suppliers on customer needs, competitors and product positioning;

  • Engage and conference with strategic National Accounts; analyze production processes and evaluate systems performance to identify design improvement opportunities; travel to customer sites 20+%;

  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering and external product teams; initiate concept designs, propose design modifications and innovative attachments that achieve customers’ new product /process requirements;

  • Develop and test design models, concept/design layout; collaborate with equipment suppliers to ensure implementation of design enhancements;


  • BS or MS Engineering or equivalent: Mechanical, Electromechanical, or Food Processing

  • Food Processing/Production equipment design, ideally Bakery Equipment industrial production systems

  • Electro-Mechanical systems design and 3D modeling software

  • Personal Attributes: Collaborative Inquiry, Creativity, Inventive problem solving, Conceptualizing, Effective Communications (oral, written, presentation)

  • Travel (20%), Communicate with Clients (USA), and Suppliers (International)
