As a Territory Packaging Technician (FST), you will be supporting Food manufacturers in the Michigan territory and surrounding region. Your Service Manager will dispatch you to customer sites to install, service, and repair Food Packaging Equipment. As part of a highly motivated team of well-rounded Field Service professionals, your mission is to assure that preventive maintenance and operational repairs are performed and carried out earning high customer satisfaction ratings.
Field Service Technicians start their career with product training at HQ. As a customer-focused technical product expert, the Packaging Equipment Tech will apply troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical skills, and knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic control systems to provide preventive maintenance and on-site equipment repair.
Travel 80% within territory and as necessary to assignments in other territories;
Read diagrams, schematic drawings, engineering specifications and service manuals to determine work procedures;
Engage with customer on site, analyze equipment performance, troubleshoot to isolate problem and determine actions needed to restore system to performance specifications;
Share information with team members, customers and your supervisor to help prioritize and keep customer apprised of corrective actions and equipment status;
Repair or replace defective parts using immense inventory system;
Inform customers of routine preventive maintenance techniques;
Participate as necessary in new projects to install or improve the safety and performance of existing and new equipment.
Required - 1 year minimum relevant hands-on machine repair experience and experience with common hand tools;
AS Degree Electrical Engineering or military, or electrical training a definite plus;
Mechanical aptitude, problem solving, servicing, troubleshooting skills and repair of PLC electromechanical machinery experience desired;
80% travel – Mostly within Territory and Region, overnight stays, travel by automobile or airplane.
