Overview

Under the general guidance of the Manufacturing Manager and with the assistance of other superintendents, the Manufacturing Superintendent serves as the first line of supervision within a manufacturing environment. The incumbent will supervise all direct and indirect activities and assigned employees of a manufacturing shift to achieve the highest possible quality at the maximum efficiency.

Education and/or Experience and Training:

High School Diploma/GED with BS/BA degree or equivalent experience in a related industry/field required, 3+ years of supervisory experience or leadership role within a manufacturing environment preferred. Prior relevant/applicable experience will be considered as well. Good communications skills in oral and written situations providing clear, informative, and persuasive communication in positive and negative scenarios, Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to coach and develop others, foster teamwork, and influence others.

 

Knowledge of injection molding or strong engineering/technical experience preferred.

Experience in an FDA regulated industry is preferred.

Previous Lean Six-Sigma experience preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products or equivalent software application is preferred.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate the English language in a proficient manner.

 

Computer Skill:

Good understanding and ability to perform tasks and create documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.

 

Math skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and perform advanced mathematical functions using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals in both English and Metric Systems required. Compute rate, ration, percent, and interpret bar graphs.

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb or balance, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and an ability to adjust focus.

 

Work environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level can be occasionally loud.

Responsibilities

Essential Tasks/Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise direct reports to achieve business, operational and quality objectives, and safety goals. Build strong infrastructure within department by communicating processes, goals and expectations.

  • Monitor performance of equipment, machines and tools and corrects equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields or product quality issues.

  • Anticipates and reacts to shortages of material, equipment, personnel and space to meet schedule. Recommends actions such as hiring, transfers, promotions, discharges, assignments, discipline, and compensation changes for assigned employees.

  • Understands the profit aspects of the department and meets or exceeds the budgetary objectives in relation to labor and material.

  • Ensure area’s adherence to corporate and regulatory expectations regarding contamination control, procedure adherence and in-process controls, in-process monitoring and batch documentation, inspection and part quality, and product identification.

  • Efficiently complete effective investigations and CAPA management to address process/procedural deviations.

  • Maintain a positive employee relations climate and ensure that Employee Relations issues (training, safety, policy enforcement, etc.) are resolved for the manufacturing organization.

  • Coordinates through the Training Department a level of training and instruction to ensure employees operate efficiently and within the appropriate procedures and specification.

  • Aids in the establishment of safety rules and instructions in the proper use of safety equipment. Maintains safety awareness and the practice of safe work habits through the training of employees.

  • This position will be required to do other related duties essential to these operations or special assignments as required.
