Overview

This position is ideal for a commercially minded, self-starter, and an organized individual who has a track record of supporting Manufacturing Operations, and interfacing with Sales and Customer Project Management.

 

The Operations Project Manager (OPM) will coordinate technical projects and the technical-commercial follow-up of those projects within Operations to ensure customer satisfaction. The OPM should be well versed in project management and capturing project specifications, then transferring them to the Operations teams.

Responsibilities

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The main contact between Operations, customer Project Management, Sales and the utilization of Tomra resources.
  • Capture the technical specifications of new projects and upgrades and develop a project plan for Supply Chain, Production, Engineering, Quality and Logistics departments.
  • Organize and run internal project Kick-Off meetings.
  • Work closely with the external/customer based project management team to ensure that the customer’s needs are being captured.
  • Pull together cross-functional expertise to make sorting machines and peripherals on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Define project plan and manage machine rental returns, customer Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Demo machine support.
  • Integrate the processes and systems for North and South American and Asiana projects to be the leader in made-to-order sorting machines.
  • Work with global project engineering teams to help build the best practices, designs, and transfer knowledge internally.
  • Other duties may include, but are not limited to, instructing/training customers on operation and maintenance of equipment.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a technical project management role.
  • As manufacturing capabilities increase to meet market demands, the OPM needs to have the strategy, leadership, and accountability from pre-sales to installation. Only when the client is 100% satisfied with their purchase does the project come to completion.
  • Well versed in project management and capturing customer specifications, then transferring them to the operations team.
  • Experience in project management or field service and customer support.
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to work on problems of diverse scope
  • Assist and support customers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, internal and external associates, and management.

Education

  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, technical, or industrial engineering, project management.
  • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with customers in the English language are necessary.
  • Spanish and other languages are a plus!
