Overview

Growing General Contractor/Roofing Company is currently seeking a Quality Control Manager to join our expanding team. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for managing and performing the daily QC responsibilities of specific projects to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the specifications. The QCM role includes direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the work flow process and working with other in- house personnel (Project Manager, Superintendent, etc.) and subcontractor personnel to produce and document a quality product. The candidate will require solid communication skills. We are looking for someone who considers themselves a lifelong learner. We are committed to continually improving how we do things by formally capturing and sharing the lessons learned from each project with the rest of our team.

Qualifications

  • 3+ Years of previous roofing/construction Quality Control or Construction Manager experience or a construction person with a minimum of 7 years of construction/roofing experience
  • Must have attended and completed 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past three years
  • High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management preferred)
  • Specific knowledge of construction principles, practices and codes
  • Ability to write clear and concise thoughts in a professional manner
  • Be familiar with multiple types of roofing installation and manufacturers
  • Must speak English fluently, Spanish is a plus
  • S. Army Corps of Engineers “Construction Quality Management for Contractors” Certification (current)
  • Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry
  • OSHA 30-hour certification
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Ability to work under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Create, update and maintain the project submittal log and all other project specific quality control reports
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary
  • Chair and document QC Meetings and provide written minutes as described in project specific contract documents
  • Provide daily QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with contract
  • Manage and coordinate the three phases of control and documentation for all work
  • Verify and document that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittals, are handled and stored appropriately and are acceptable for use in the project
  • Conduct preconstruction meetings with subcontractors and the superintendent at least two days prior to the start of each new phase of the work to discuss issues that affect quality
  • Coordinate and document and required testing
  • Maintain the project “as-built” drawings on a daily basis
  • Assemble and forward project close-out documents that include O&M manuals, as-builts and warranties
  • Stop work if necessary to resolve matters that affect safety, quality and/or inhibit the logical progress of the work
  • Serve as the alternate for Site Safety Officer
